Attractive and durable transport shelters help to create a practical and user-friendly urban landscape, where locals and visitors can enjoy optimal conditions when using public transport to get around town.

The main objective of this project was to construct a strong, long-lasting Taxi Rank in Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal to service thousands of public transport commuters each day during all weather conditions.

The intricate design of the  21m x 72m x 6.904m structure, which includes 1.5m concrete stubs, allows for natural ventilation without rain seeping through. Three different steel frame designs were used in this project, with steel load-bearing columns supporting the ceilings and roof of the structure. The steel sheeting used was Rainforest Green, which was finished with a protective layer of QD enamel.  Alucushion, a fire retardant grade insulator, was used as a cost-effective solution for roof insulation.
