Steel Structure Factory for Eco Tanks

Eco Tanks is a leading national manufacturer of standard size and custom rotationally moulded water tanks. For their project in Mkondeni, Pietermaritzburg, Span Africa constructed a 25m x 60m x 6m from a supplied design, with a 10m x 6m x 4,5m extension to the side.

The roof structure is made from IBR 686 sheeting, which is a cost-effective, versatile and durable material. We also used IBR 686 sheeting for cladding in certain parts of the building as it provides fantastic insulation from the elements, and offers flexibility and versatility in design, which supported the side extension element of the project. The inclusion of Ampa sheets for the cladding allowed more natural light to flood the interior, which reduces electricity usage for lighting purposes.

A twelve-degree pitch in the roof allows for a steady fall for rainwater to be harvested into storage tanks. Alucushion was used for insulation, however, the roof design allowed for ventilation. The steel finish was 1 coat of Battleship Grey quick-dry enamel which has an exceptionally high gloss for a long-lasting finish.
